Rotate the cushions

Rotate the cushions and flip them over every week so that the wear spreads evenly across the entire cushion.

Vacuum thoroughly

Vacuum your furniture fabric weekly  to keep it fresh.

Dampen fabric upholstery enough to dry out quickly

Clean those food or drink spills quickly before it becomes a stain.

If you choose to use a liquid cleaner solution, use a cloth or sponge to avoid excess solution penetrating the fabric, otherwise if it’s not dried out properly it may cause mold and unpleasant smell.

Avoid sunlight exposure

Fabric and leather upholstery can be damaged by being exposed to sunlight. Having drapes or using blinds to give shade to your upholstery can help avoid scorching your upholstery over time.

Never cover your upholstery with dark-colored blankets because the dyes can rub off onto the fabric when dry or bleed when wet.

Follow the cleaning care guide

Read the furniture’s care instructions. Knowing the type of material your upholstery is made out of will help in its proper care.

Microfiber upholstery can be steam cleaned for the best result, mostly any fabric, but natural fibers require special treatment: dry cleaning or cold-water cleaning.

Protect upholstery with stain-guard or stain protectant

After a professional cleaning ask for stain protection for all upholstery you think convenient.

Clean your upholstery often

Professional upholstery cleaning should be performed once or twice a year.

Most homeowners clean their upholstery whenever its needed, but if you do clean your upholstery every year even when it is still moderately clean, it will increase its lifespan significantly.

And, it will look good and smell better.

  1. It’s good to know that professional upholstery cleaning should be performed once or twice a year. I just refurnished my home and want to keep all of the furniture in the best condition. It’s quite costly to buy so much furniture, so I want my purchases to last.
